A day trip whilst visiting family in Yorkshire presented this great opportunity using my Canon 1D mkIV. Apart from the wonderful colours, I especially like the (almost) symmetry and the way the colours blend all the way down the petals. Getting the right focus and very short depth of field turned out to be the biggest challenges!

Another work trip up north and an overnight stay at Kegworth. Armed with my trusty Canon 1D mkIV, I ventured out into the hotel gardens after checking in. I found this little fella on the rim of a bucket in the garden. Thankfully, the light was still sufficient to get the shot.

The photo freezes the bustle of the famous Grand Bazaar of Istanbul featuring a local 'Simit' (Turkish bread) vendor. It's very spontaneous and therefore made for a great 'street photo' op. The man's worn yet enthusiastic face is very interesting as well and adds to the photo's charm.

I started taking my son to RIAT in 2008 when he was just six years old. He had to follow Dad, and would be seen armed with my old Canon 350D. I was using a Canon 40D and Canon 100-400mm L series lens at the time.RIAT is wholly dependant upon the right weather for good photography. Cloud too low - display routines are changed. Too much cloud and rain - the background is too grey. The weather can also be too good, leaving bright blue, but boring backgrounds. Thankfully July 18, 2009 provided goo

This was the day of famous Northern Lights visible in most of the North America. Stubs Stewart is the most ideal dark area for star gazing so I reached there around 11pm. As expected, it was full of enthusiasts. The lights were predicted to be at peak between 10pm - 2am. Around 2pm, when we though the "show was over", the lights started getting incredibly bright, and that is when this picture was taken. Interestingly, the lights were bright in some regions and other regions were faded enough to

Last February, I left Sydney with my friends at 6pm to capture the first Milky Way view of 2024. I was very anxious because I saw a lot of clouds on the way, but I was really happy to see clear skies as I passed Newcastle. When we arrived at the lighthouse, fortunately we were the only ones in the group, so we were able to take photos without any disturbance. The lighthouse light, which was not too bright, was very helpful in filming.
