Architecture Photography

Saturday 04 January
Swindon City Centre - 10am - 2 Hours
Ricci Hibbertgreaves
Architectural photography can be a great way of exploring and documenting a city, whether it's your home or on holiday. Its about capturing not only the design and accurate representation of a building, but to have the shots be aesthetically pleasing to the viewer's eye. An architectural photographer makes pictures, not takes pictures. In this session, we will be covering how to better understand Architecture photography and we'll be looking at ways to take some impressive shots and the camera settings to use.

Saturday 25 January
Thamesdown Dr. - 10am - 2 Hours
Ricci Hibbertgreaves
People, cafes, vendors, street merchants, buskers, historic buildings, art installations and much more. The power of observation underpins the art of great street photography. Learning to "see" interesting detail is a practised skill and we introduce you to easy methods that will open your photographer's eye and expose you to a world that is alive with detail. The most rewarding part of the class is learning how to approach interesting people and have them willingly pose for you.

We will also go over settings, focusing techniques and lens choices common to street photography to help us capture those random chance encounters.

Macro photography is a unique form of photography that involves photographing small objects to make them look life-sized or more significant in the photo. The usual subjects include flowers and small insects, which we don't normally get to see up close with the naked eye.

The class will start when the insects are more active. So be ready to explore and capture breathe-taking macro images.

Weather aside I thought the event was great from multiple perspectives. It was helpful to have such a knowledgable teacher, and to have a model in order to demonstrate the theory and practice what we were taught. Despite the weather not being particularly cooperative, we made the most of it!

I have known this lonely tree all of my life. My Parents and Grand Parents also knew the tree all of their days. I make a point of visiting it at least a couple of times a year as it unlocks so many memories of my childhood upbringing on the farm at Wroughton, also memories of those loved ones who are no longer with us

It's coming into the season where trees become more interesting for me, but a tree like this will be the same all year round, the trouble is they are often on land inaccessible to the public so.....out comes the drone. The winter isn't a great time for drone flying but on this day it was calm and sunny, ideal flying conditions. The drone camera has a CPL filter on it and the shot was converted to black and white in Photoshop by retaining all the colours and editing the channels.

Photo taken in the afternoon on a sunny day with some clouds. Choose to go on a week day to try and get a time when it would be less busy. Have seen many photographs from Westonbirt, however not seen any taken using a lens ball, so that it would make an interesting picture. Picture taken using a Canon EOS 90D using a Canon 50mm 1.14 lens.
